On 25th June I had to call an ambulance for my father who lived in Louth. Travelling from Lincoln, I arrived at his house an hour and a half later, at the same time as the ambulance from Grimsby. The crew were wonderful.
We then spent 14.5 hrs in a crowded and understaffed A&E at Princess Diana of Wales Hospital in Grimsby, as he waited for a bed. No criticism of the staff is implied here, they were overwhelmed. - on a Monday.
He was eventually moved to a ward at 4.30am. Dad died from stomach cancer four weeks later.
Three stars, as there is no 'choice' of hospital in these circumstances and a recommendation is therefore pointless.
I felt I had to finally write this on hearing today that the NHS "is not in crisis".
