"Minor complaint about visit"

I visited the minor injuries unit after sustaining a minor injury to my face when a table slipped while moving it into my loft. When I arrived, I was first seen by a student and then by a doctor.

The examination was progressing fine until I informed the doctor that a family member had told me to ask about a kind of treatment that could possibly minimize scarring. I asked whether this existed or if it would be appropriate. Immediately the doctor very pointedly asked what kind of medical background my family member had, not only to my shock, but that of the student as well.

Sorry, but I believe that if I was a girl, there would be no question of receiving a full examination for a facial injury and having the ability to ask (just ask!) questions during it.

I do not want to complain formally, but I do want to record this somewhere because it was a unnecessarily awkward experience.

Right now, I would not visit minor injuries and at the time I immediately wished I had not.
