"Spinal Decompression 30.11.17 - Great outcome!"

About: Thornbury Hospital (Sheffield)

I wanted to express my great joy and satisfaction with the treatment and result of my procedure on 30.11.17.

I have been suffering for three and a half years with terrible buttock pain on standing or walking for 10 – 20 mins which could only be alleviated somewhat by leaning forward. I also had sharp nerve pain occasionally when twisting, some nerve sensations on the outside of my calf and my foot went completely numb if I tried to walk upright. In short, my life, and that of my wife, was being severely limited with this disability (no sightseeing, shopping, travelling (especially airports),etc.)

Even though it is less than one month since the operation, I can say that it has been life transforming and I’ve enjoyed walking for miles, standing at the bar drinking, shopping, etc.

The effect was immediate following the operation and, despite the surgery, it was clear within a few days that the problem was gone.

Of course I know I still have a worn out, arthritic back (as the consultant keeps telling me) but it is nice just to have some simple backache which I can easily deal with.

I have attached a brief list of the small things that now give me no pain which were previously really painful.

Once again, please accept the heartfelt gratitude of my wife and myself for the life changing work done by the consultant and the staff at Thornbury.

Sincere thanks, James Eaton
