"Unexpected visit to Casualty by Ambulance"

About: West Cumberland Hospital / Accident and emergency

Having fallen at home and hit my head which was bleeding profusely the excellent ambulance staff decided that I needed to be taken to Casualty to stop the bleeding. I was very quickly and efficiently placed into a treatment room and greeted by a nurse within minutes who checked my injury. The nurse then brought a doctor who confirmed it was an arterial bleed and would need some anesthetic and stitching. This was done fairly swiftly and although somewhat painful I was given maximum support and encouragement by both the nurse an doctor during the procedure. From my arrival to departure of the hospital I feel that I was given absolutely first class care, treatment and consideration. Well done all staff. X

Hello Dave,

Many thanks for taking the time to send us your comments. I am pleased that you were looked after so well and felt so well supported by the staff during your visit. I hope that you have recovered well at home following your fall.

I will ensure that your kind words are passed on to the team concerned.

With best wishes

Georgia Wright - Head of Nursing, Patient Experience.
