Our Dad was admitted to University Hospital Crosshouse, he was admitted to ward 3E where he deteriorated and unfortunately died. I just want to thank the unit, and three of the many staff that nursed him, so kindly and with great clinical knowledge whilst there. Staff nurses Gillian, Rihanna and Hannah were wonderful at dealing with what I can imagine we are- a potentially challenging family (many of us have acute nursing backgrounds) they escalated his deterioration, and managed his symptoms excellently in his last few days with us. They accommodated our needs as a family that wanted to remain with their Dad, and comforted us during very difficult times. They treated and cared for our Dad as an individual, and as a person not just a bed space. The knowledge these nurses have shone through in the care they provided, and we will be always grateful that he died after receiving care that we feel was the best for him. Other special thanks to the nursing assistants (that had him laughing and joking) and to Dr Gosh, his team, and also the on call ITU registrar (unfortunately I cannot remember her name) that reviewed him during his deterioration. You all do a wonderful job, and deserve so much more thanks and appreciation that we, or anyone else can ever give to you.
