About: Royal Bolton Hospital / Respiratory medicine

My mum was admitted to d4 about three weeks ago, there have been several incidents involving her care, she is currently on a ventilator and reluctant to come off it, however without sounding u grateful the nurses simply are too overworked to spend time to wean her from the NIV, it needs someone to spend time with her so she feels safe as she won’t let the nurse leave her side if she has a drink or food, the doctor has explained the consequences if she cannot get off the mask but again if no one spends the time with her how is this possible, an antibiotic was forgotten and left lying in a tray on one visit, then the nurse took it and did not return, my Mum is left for hours without a drink because of the NIV being too much of a hassle for the nurses, they have for her own protection had her on isolation for a few days but I fear isolation is making her deteriorate rapidly, I visited today and she hasn’t eaten all day has no interest and is depressed, she seems to have been wheeled in to the side room and left to go downhill rapidly, not even being given fluids now, I am so angry at the lack of care my mother is getting, but what do you expect when the head nurse tells me she has 27 patients to oversee, and my mum just hidden away and left.
