"I was treated with dignity, care and felt I was important."

About: Southmead Hospital / General surgery

(as a service user),

I was looked after brilliantly from beginning to end. The anaesthetist Andy and theater nurse Ian (I think that was his name) both helped to relax and make me less anxious. From then on I was treated with dignity, care and made to feel I was important. I could not have had better care if I'd paid privately for it. I certainly have no complaints at all, although the tea could be better. I'm in the older person category but I was treated like a real person.

I'm glad the staff who looked after me so well know their hard work is appreciated. I wish the appreciation could be spread to higher levels so they could have the rewards they deserve. I dreaded going to Southmead because of the distance and my operation, so for me to come away feeling as I do is a great achievement on the part of the staff
