"My husband's heart condition"

About: Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh at Little France / Cardiology & Coronary Care Unit Victoria Hospital / Cardiology

(as a relative),

My husband was admitted to ward 21 at the Victoria hospital he then was transferred to Edinburgh royal for a heart valve replacement as he was suffering from endocarditis he was then transferred back to ward 23 at the Victoria where he had 6 weeks of iv antibiotics he was then discharged he became unwell after 3 weeks and was readmitted to ward 21 he was then put into the main ward 23 where he had to get another 6 weeks of antibiotics and in doing so his kidneys became damaged he was discharged home 6 and a half weeks later having to attend the ward for blood tests

Thank you for sharing the story of your Husband's illness on care opinions. I'm really sorry you had to endure such a worrying time, especially given your husband's readmission and a second six weeks of IV antibiotics. It sounds like your husband is finally making a full recovery and as a nursing team on ward 21&23 we wish you both a merry Christmas and your husband a fit and healthy, happy New Year.
