It was early November and I went into labour. I planned to have a home birth, so I rang my midwife, Joanne, who came quickly and really helped me through my contractions. She encouraged me and told me I was doing amazing, which made me feel great. I felt calm and in control. I got into the birthing pool, after my husband pumped it up and filled it. I was very relaxed in there and couldn't feel much pain. However, things slowed down for me (I was a bit too relaxed) so I got out, but things were still slow, my contractions seemed to stop. I asked to be transferred to hospital because I'd been in this situation before. The midwives were supportive and called for the ambulance, but while waiting for it my daughter was born. I think she must have known I wanted her at home. Being at home was fab, I had music, my own comforts, my husband and two wonderful midwives, that I knew, to support me and deliver my daughter.
