My 87 year old mum was rushed to Kingsmill hospital as an emergency admission. She had not had any medical intervention for over 30 years as she was very, "old school" and never wanted to "waste anyone's time". It was a very big step for her to accept medical help but the paramedic and ambulance service who came to her, were very sensitive and understanding with her. She was treated with the upmost respect.
Mum was taken to rhesus and admitted to the EAU unit where again, she received first class care. Myself and my family (and there were many of us!) were also treated very well, when obviously, we were very worried and distressed. Dr Amsha, who was treating my mum, kept us very well informed and answered all our questions honestly.
Unfortunately, my mum passed away some hours later. Although this was a massive shock, we as a family took comfort from knowing she had received the best care.
A few days later, myself and son had to visit the bereavement centre at Kingsmill Hospital to organise the paperwork and certificates. Again, the staff were marvellous which helped enormously when dealing with one of the worst experiences of your life. They understood that I had questions and needed reassurance. They actually arranged for Dr Amsha to come and have a chat with us and he arrived shortly afterwards. Again, he was very understanding and showed great compassion. He answered all my concerns and I will always be very greatful for that. Thank you to everyone at Kingsmill Hospital who dealt with us at this a awful time.
"My mum's care."
