My daughter came in for a spinal correction, we received excellent care from all the doctors, nurses and staff. She needed to go to the HDU, we were told that she would have to go in with the adults and not to the children and young people's HDU as the unit was full, Fair enough. After spending the night in a small private room we were told there was space for her to go into the CUP HID. It was lovely, a nicely decorated good size room with a kitchen area we could use to make ourselves food and drink, which is important when you have a child here as you don't really want to leave them and a tv while away the long hours. Unfortunately we didn't last long there as the child in the other room was well enough to go back to the ward so we got turfed out back into the small room where you couldn't swing a cat and no tv. The Tv would have been great to take my daughters mind off everthing. The care we received from everyone continued to be great but it's a shame that the facility set up for Children and young people is sat empty and a young person is stuck on the adult ward.
"Excellent care and facilities shame we couldn't..."
