"2016 Turned out to be a good year."

About: Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust - City Campus / Trauma and orthopaedics

Having suffered with increasingly painful knees I was referred by my GP in Calverton to the Orthopaedic Dept at the City Hospital, this was in Dec. 2015. Very quickly I received notification of a consultation with at the City Hospital in Jan 2016.

The consultation was excellent. The consultant examined both knees and looked at X-rays recommended

Total knee replacement for both legs..I found that the consultant was very approachable and explained the procedures very clearly and was extremely empathetic. Mind you they did say l would hate them for 3 months following the operation.

I had the right knee replaced in April and the left knee in September 2016.

I had also suffered for years with pins and needles and numbness in my left hand.

As the consultant was finishing the second operation they said that during the op I was shaking my left hand and had l a problem with it.After l explained they said, almost in passing, oh l can sort that out for you. I didn't give it another thought.

In November l was contacted by the consultants' Secratary to say that they would operate on my left wrist in December.

The consultant carried out a Carpal tunnel operation early in December.

So within one year l had both knees and left wrist successfully operated on.

I have made a great recovery from the operations and my life has been much enhanced.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the consultant and their team and the nursing staff at the City Hospital for the treatment l received.

Morning Kenneth. Thank you for taking the time to write in and share your positive experience of the elective orthopaedics department during 2016.

I’ve shared your feedback with my colleagues. We’re pleased you have made a full recovery and to read of the difference your surgery has made to your quality of life.

Best wishes
