I had revised ENT surgery, the doctor and the day surgery team have once again reaffirmed why this hospital remains the best in the West Midlands. I travel from Worcestershire (like many Worcestershire patients sadly have to) for care in several different departments at Russells Hall; and every visit is positive.
The surgery was bold and planned to take care of the root cause of my health problems, to prevent problems coming back in a hurry. The admission process as ever is like a well oiled engine. However it remains clear Russells Hall greatest asset is its professional, happy and cheerful staff.
My only issue is that the post discharge support is simply not working in its recently changed form, but I doubt hospital managers will ever reverse this consolidation decision, based on cost cutting and efficiency. ENT out of hours and weekend cover from New Cross does not seem fit for purpose and the phone line has been pointless.
It seems ludicrous I can have a surgical procedure at RH site on a Saturday or a Sunday as a wonderful 7 day service, but if I need help with anything post surgery and discharge or if I have problems I have to go to A&E at New Cross.
I’d like to pass on thanks to everyone who treated me wonderfully and given me hope that once healed I will have a pain free life and better quality life. RH staff are a great example of what good staff look like
"World class surgery. Follow up care lacking."
