"Sheffield mental health care: A&E and Home Treatment"

About: Community Mental Health Teams Crisis Mental Health / Liaison psychiatry

(as a friend),

A friend of mine experienced a mental health crisis - it was really worrying, and I feared for their safety. I've spent most of the weekend with them. Because of what had happened I took them to the Northern General Accident and Emergency where they saw two nurses, Nicola and Helen, from the mental health team there. I really want to record how brilliant they were. So caring and helpful, and they spent ages with my friend, and also talked a lot to me. They put in place a plan which was really good, and the next day, Dawn from the Home Treatment team came out to see my friend twice as well as speak to them on the phone. She also was wonderful, and incredibly caring and helpful. She managed to get a new medication prescribed for them, and also put in place some plans for the week. Thank you so much to Nicola, Helen, and Dawn - you are fantastic people.

Thank you for your kind response.

The staff work really hard all the time and its always good to receive positive feedback on someone's experience of the help and support we provide.

I hope your friend is continuing to improve and I will ensure that the workers see your post as it makes a real difference to staff morale generally in the team.

kind regards
