"Sister attended A& E dept for urgent pain control"

About: William Harvey Hospital (Ashford) / Accident and emergency

My sister, unable to walk from excruciating pain in her legs was admitted to the A&E dept on Sunday night 6.11.17. The unit was incredibly busy! Trolleys in corridors with ill patients, a full waiting room and amazing staff who worked hard with patience and kindness to do their best for patients needing their care.

My sister had to wait as had the others there; this was difficult for her; however, when she did get seen, her care was amazing. The Doctor was patient, took their time and did they pull out the stops for her! I have to applaud the doctor for how well they managed her care when she needed it the most. The doctor explained that the dept are not pain control specialists but would refer her to that service; however, the medications the doctor prescribed could not have been better under the circumstances. I am a health professional and work in the north so have some insight into how good the doctor's skill was and it was impressive. Under pressure the doctor took their time to do their homework and get it right for her. Thank you so much for your good listening skills and taking the time with my lovely sister. Your care has made an amazing difference to her life, she now is empowered to manage her own pain order to function.
