"Being moved wards"

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Acute Medical Initial Assessment

(as a service user),

I was in 101 overnight following a period of being quite unwell which turned out to be a kidney infection.

Right after lunchtime a member of staff came to the bedside with a chair and told me to get in the chair were going upstairs. There was no explanation as to where I was going or why. I felt this was very distressing and not good practice, I should have been told where I was going and why I needed to go there.

Many thanks for sharing your experience and I would like to apologise for the lack of explanation given regarding why you were being moved and to which area and fully appreciate that this would have caused you to feel distressed.

It is so important that we keep our patients informed in all aspects of their journey through our services and again apologise that this did not happen.

I will share your experience with the team involved in your care in order that they can improve communication with patients.

I hope that you are now home and recovering well
With best wishes

Fiona Robertson Chief Nurse
