(as a service user),

I phoned Orchard Medical Centre in Motherwell yesterday to try and arrange appointment with my GP. I am not a frequent attender, only having cause to see my GP twice within the last five years. I was completely astounded at the waiting time for an appointment. Four weeks is the waiting time with no offer of appointment due to cancellation. I have been a nurse for 34 years, working within the acute setting. I see how busy the A& E department is becoming on a daily basis. I have no doubt that waiting length times for a GP appointment is a contributory factor and is entirely unacceptable.
