"I felt stronger thanks to therapy"

About: Ealing IAPT

(as the patient),

I was in a very low and dark place. I was struggling daily with demons due to health issues and work problems. This caused trust issues and a friendship breakup which affected both of us.

I had a big meltdown and just couldn't take anymore and the demons were too strong and I self harmed, only the once but I decided I needed help from one to one therapy.

I was referred to the Southall team of Ealing IAPT and after first session my therapist told me I was suffering from Anxiety.

I felt safe and the trust issues lowered a bit. My therapist Karen worked with me to identify what the cause of the issues were and helped me by teaching me techniques to use next time an anxiety attack happened and how to control the situation. After the sessions ended I felt stronger thanks to therapy.

Dear "MyQueen"

We are very pleased to be able to pass on your feedback to Karen. From your description it does indeed sound like you were not in a good place when you got in touch with the service. Its tough when all areas of life seem to be going wrong. With challenges in your personal, social and work life its hardly surprising that you went into meltdown, we can after all, only deal with so much at any one time.

You showed great resilience however in seeking help to cope with the difficulties in a healthier way and clearly with Karen's intervention, you were able to put these coping strategies into action.

Karen and the team will be delighted that you took the time to share your story with us and with other readers of Care Opinion.

We hope you go from strength to strength.

On behalf of Karen and the team, best wishes,

Dr Louise De Haro

Clinical Psychologist

Deputy Clinical Lead Ealing IAPT
