"Gluten free menu"

About: Countess Of Chester Hospital / Cardiology

I want to start with saying the staff & care is amazing, the only problem for me was the gluten free lack of knowledge of how important gluten free food is to a diagnosed Coeliac when first admitted to ward 46 the health care had ordered gluten free porridge for the next morning for my breakfast, but when moved to ward 42 later on in the evening the heath care the next morning on the ward had no knowledge of the

Importancy that I needed gluten free food I was made to feel a nuisance the next morning when I was asked what I’d like for breakfast, I told the heather care I’d orderd GF porridge while on 46 their answer was oh that will be gone you’ll have to have something from the trolley I told them I could not it would make me very ill then they said they would make toast in the ward kitchen, I explained that I cannot eat wheat i cannot use the same toaster ordinary bead had been in as it’s cross contamination i will be Ill they then with the roll of the eyes asked what I’d like and to be quick the kitchen might not do anything for me now I asked for porridge they came back with a packet of gluten free rice crispies which I don’t like but eat them as that’s all there was, my worry is if I had of been an elderly person and not noticed I’d been given just anything I would of been quite Ill, as a member of staff and when returned to work I visited the catering

Manager and had a word and I’m

Appalled to find out that every ward has a book for all dietary requirements for patience to see for their selves and I was not even shown it, I have a member of family as a health care and told that she has no knowledge of a book she has never been told about it on the ward she works on but they do send the menu with the patience records with transferred to another ward, the catering manager shown me the book told me there is one on every ward and should of been shown to me & the catering staff would of willingly made gf porridge, I do know how good the catering staff are as a member of staff myself at the countess on different times I have orded a gf sandwich from time to time & when having the Christmas lunch over the years.i look forward to your reply.

Yours sincerely

Mrs Susan Morris.
