The professional manner commenced with the ‘Pre-op Assessment’ how well this was organised including a DVD detailing exercises to carry prior to the operation.
Arrived on the due date, greeted at the Reception prior to a nurse taking me to the ward (L2)
Asked to get ready with the gown
The nurses were constantly checking my welfare
The Consultant arrived to discuss the operation and to check if I had any questions, this meeting was followed by the Aneathatist to explain the epidural
Just waiting for my slot
Taken down to the anti room to receive the epidural all straight forward and put at ease b.y the staff
Prepped and ready to go into theatre
Next woke up in the Recovery Room. All done and sorted ready to be returned to the Ward
Welcome coffee and biscuits
The food was superb
Nurses monitoring blood pressure and oxygen levels during the night
Thursday morning 6.00 early morning wash
7.00 down to X-ray
Returned to the Ward
7.45 Consultant confirmed they had looked at the X-ray and all OK
Awainting physio after a good breakfast
Carried out the required exercises under the supervision of the Physio
Met all the requirements, ready to be discharged (2 days)
Unbelievable the difference the operation has made to my life (no pain)
Carrying out the recommended exercises at home, painful but must persevere to ensure full rotation of the knee
6 weeks and just returned to Physio
Pleased to confirm all OK
All I can say this was a brilliant experience and the professionalism shown by all members of the ‘Team’ at Balborough is an example of the NHS at its best
Many thanks????????
