What I liked
The friendly nature of the daycare nursing team.
A few hours may have only been a snapshot in the life of a big hospital but it certainly improved my spirits and left me feeling very positive. I was a very anxious patient and they reassured me immensely. My nurse had a lovely disposition complete with a nice friendly smile.
You hear so many negative things said about the NHS but my experience was superb.
With finite resources and a heavy workload the team did their very best and the odd delay did not dent my admiration for the effort they put in that day.
In fact my nurse apologised that I could not be released a bit quicker but he was obviously waiting for others and he was stretched somewhat himself it seemed.
I felt compelled to offer my gratitude and thanks to everyone at Darent Valley as they have had a rough ride over the past few years in the press and you hear so many scare stories - I hope this shines a positive light on people - lets face it - a job most of us wouldn't do for for financial reward which hardly compensates for the responsibility they shoulder each and every day.
What could be improved
Not a lot from my experience - but I hope these guys get as many pats on the backs as they deserve - in my estimation people are quick to complain about the NHS but very slow to praise
