"Circumcision"

About: Community Health Centre (Zs Osama)

I was rather disappointed with my experience today and wish I had went elsewhere. Unfortunately I went ahead with the procedure as we decided as a family it was going to be fine.

My 1 year old was circumcised today. The moment I walked in the clinic the consultant asked me to put him down on the bed for the injection and sign the form on the table. I was shocked as I was offered no consultation or advice or told anything about the procedure. They didn't even introduce themself. They didn't ask if my little one was unwell or on any medication or if he is allergic to anything. I told them to hold on and started asking questions but they replied have you not read the leaflet. This is not what I expect from a consultant who is a respectable plastic surgeon. They didn't explain if they had a contingent plan if something went wrong during the procedure. After the procedure they didn't tell us anything about the aftercare. I left the clinic rather upset.

It appears this is the norm for this practice as other patients were in the Sugery room less time than us. It's a high volume practice and therefore drop the quality of service.

I am considering if i should raise a formal complaint.

Parents of all children coming for circumcision are given a guide before the procedure explaining:

1. Circumcision procedure

2. What to expect

3. Aftercare

4. Introduction to the surgeon

5. Contact details for any post operative issues

The parents are encouraged to read the information and ask any questions prior to the procedure which is not clear to them.

The plastibell procedure which is employed in the clinic is a reliable, safe and straightforward procedure.
