My care has felt like I am being pushed along a conveyor belt...crisis team, ICS, and now CMHT.
The CMHT are too busy to care, or to treat me like a person.
Example 1
Care worker: I have cancelled the appointment I made on Tuesday, and it is now on Friday morning, I will see you then.
Erm hello? I have a life of my own, they could have at least first checked that I free on Friday. This has happened on several occasions, it is as if staff think that patients just sit around waiting for appointments.
Example 2
Endless phone calls! I told my care co-ordinator that I do not like phone calls because I can not answer the phone while working. The member of staff seems to have forgotten this.
I cant ignore their calls because it increases my anxiety levels, and I worry about what will happen next. Last time I did not answer my phone, the police came looking for me because they were concerned.
This is why I get extremely anxious when I get missed calls. I have been unable to concentrate at work, or relax at home because I am constantly checking for missed calls!
I asked if they could arrange appointments by email, but my care co-ordinator says they can only do phone calls.
Example 3
Lack of choice, my care co-ordinator is of the opposite gender. I respect them, but being muslim means that I am limited in the way I interact with people of this gender who are not my relatives.
I do not feel comfortable being in a closed room with a care co-ordinator. I asked if I could change. My care co-ordinator rudely responsed with "Well you need to take responsibility for your action, you should have said so before"
a. I was not asked if I had a gender preference, I came along a conveyor belt from the crisis team, to ICS and now the CMHT
b. Its is a basic fact- Most patients can withdraw consent to treatment at any time.
The solution is simple, my care co-ordinator could just keep the door slightly open, and use email instead of phone calls
"Expected to bed over backwards for staff..."
