Well I was in a crisis and admitted through A and E at the PRH after a 30hr wait for a bed which is understandable given the demand.
I arrived late in the night and I was first seen by a doctor within an hour or so. The next morning I was seen by a consultant who discussed my isssues and amended my medication.
As an outpatient not here but in Horsham I had been waiting for a medication review since March and was continually let down by local services. LGH Coral Ward and its staff showed completely the opposite approach.
The staff were caring, professional, efficient and highly dignified.
The other service users I came across were unified in supporting each other.
As a long suffering mental health client I found the environment to be very positive and safe.
If I had the same service as an outpatient with the Horsham services then I prob wouldn't have become an inpatient.
I can't thank the staff at Coral Ward enough for what they have done for me in my stay.
It was daunting to become an inpatient but these fears were soon grounded by the professional and caring approach of the staff.
The Ward has a good decent size garden which is open virtually all the time you need it to be.
The general lounge area is nice and relaxing.
The Ward is very accommodating to visitors and is not OTT on visiting times.
You don't have to wait around for hours if you need assistance from staff.
I think this is prob the most positive mental health experience I have had with the services in over 20 years.
Thanks again x
