"Early morning wake up"

I was a patient in ward 1 at Stoke Mandeville and the only complaint I have is about being woken up at such an early hour. Every day between 5 & 6 am we woken up by staff wanting to do blood pressure and offer hot drinks. Some nights I only had a few hours sleep and I thought rest was good for you obviously not in hospital. When I asked why I was told by a staff nurse that they were always short staffed and the night staff had to do some of the day staff jobs,

On the plus side the staff were great especially a few on nights who were always happy and seemed to love their work, unfortunately they were only on a few nights a week.
