I don't like how the receptionists ask in front of people in the queue why I want to see a doctor. It should be private.
We had a terrible experience when our daughter developed an eating disorder because our doctor thought it was a phase. It took a lot of work on my part to get a referral to CAMHS. This should have been straight away. As it turned out our daughter has anorexia and we could have had treatment much quicker if the doctor knew more about it and was able to refer to CAMHS straight away. I think doctors need more training in eating disorders and also the signs to look for in autism in girls. Our daughter wasn't diagnosed with autism even by CAMHS. It is common for girls not to be diagnosed until adolescence. Doctors need more understanding of this condition. Also taking menopausal women more seriously with certain conditions and not just offering HRT would be an improvement.
