"Terrible customer service - poor service"

About: Manor Park Surgery

First of all, you can never get an appointment, NEVER. You have to wait up to 3 weeks before an appointment with a doctor ( the only doctor worth seeing at the surgery)

I called Monday at 1pm, 10 past 1 i got through and all appointments had gone.

I then called the Tuesday morning at 7am, all appointments gone - call back at 1pm. I then called back at 1pm, and not to any surprise- all appointments were gone. Even after explaining to the staff that I had just been to my dermatology appointment at street lane who had give me an advise note for the doctor, they still refused to see me. They advised I went to see a doctor at something called Shakespeare- they told me during this conversation i would not be able to see a doctor there today at all and would have to ring Wednesday at 7am ( this would of been fine, if i had not tried for 2 days prior to this) When asking for Shakespeare number, they told me they didn't have this to provide me with and their words ".if your that unwell go to a&e) I then asked to speak to the practise manager, which they told me was unavailable (coincidence?)

The service is appalling from start to finish, absolutely disgusting. I have been registered for over 25 years at this surgery and over the past 5 years its been no help to me what so ever. This is not the first occasion I have been refused to be seen either. I had the same problem with my 4 year old and had to move her to a different doctors, where she was then given the attention she needed. The last straw for me was yesterday, and I have now moved to Armley Medical Center, and got my self an appointment straight away today. The difference in customer service has already been shown, and that's before I have attended my appointment at my new Doctors today. Such a shame after 25 years I have had to move, but the service is disgusting and been told to go to a & e with a bad chest is beyond a joke. I feel for the elderly that are registered here, if they were unable to get an appointment and told to go to "Shakespeare" instead but they couldn't give them a number- what risks could this lead to them not been seen. Beyond belief this is the kind of service I have received.

I would be happy for anyone to call me to discuss this review further as the list is endless as to what I have to say regarding my full conversation this week on the phone.

I would NOT recommend Manor Park surgery to anyone. EVER.

Thank you very much for taking the time to provide us with your comments and we are very sorry you have experience long waits when trying to get through on the telephone.

We are aware of the long time and frustration when attempting to get through on the telephones. We are currently recruiting new staff to help better manage the demand on our telephone system. We are confident that when our new staff are trained, we will be able to provide a much faster and more efficient service for our patients.

When a patient has a treatment advice note from dermatology or other clinics, this is usually not marked as urgent and we would send this through to the doctor who would then prescribe the requested medication.

We are an extremely busy practice and our appointments do go very quickly. Our aim is always to supply as many appointments as we are able and do not like having to turn away patients when the appointments have been taken. We do have to consider other factors such as patient safety when we decide just how many patients a doctor can see in one day.

We are very sorry you have found the practice to be less than satisfactory and wish you all the best with your new practice.

Kind Regards

Karen Wood
