"Absolute shambles"

After waiting 22 days to receive a choose and book letter that my doctor just had to simply print off from a computer, I then made my appointment through the online service for another 2 weeks time. I had a question that I needed to know the answer to in case it meant changing the selected clinic, so I rang the hospital only to be put on hold for 37 minutes from the switchboard. I then used another phone to ring on another line only to spend another 13 minutes on hold to extension number 2230 and given another extension number (2495) from the switchboard to try again (all while still on hold from the other phone with no answer). After another 9 minute wait I finally spoke to someone in ENT. I told them my concern to which they told me, yes, I would have to go to another clinic however I would have to attend this appointment first and they would then refer me on again. So I now have to wait another 2 weeks to attend a pointless appointment only to be told they cant carry out the procedure (which has already been established!!) and refer me onto another waiting list at another hospital. I'm confused as to why any of us even bother anymore? The NHS is a shambles and I'm at the end of my tether with it. It makes this country laughable.
