"Uniterested and intimidating consultant"

About: The Walton Centre NHS Foundation Trust / Neurology

I had excellent care for my ops and scans etc and cannot praise the Hospital enough but when it came to seeing my outpatient consultant the experience was firstly strange as they didn’t appear to know anything about my condition or medication. Long story short I was shown no duty of care whatsoever and was spoken to like I was hated and was not allowed to speak or ask any questions. Was a totally waste of my and Hospital time. I became so intimidated I have asked for a re-referral to a different consultant. I would like to put in a formal complaint but am worried about the care I would then receive ( drs do talk to each other about patients) . Patient care line did not seem interested in my problem when I called and told me to go to my go which I did. Now waiting for a new consultant.

We are pleased to read about your praise about the previous care you have recieved at our hospital. However, we are concerned about your experience during the outpatient appointment you have described. We can assure you that making a complaint will not affect any future care you recieve; this is an essential part of our complaints process. Our Patient Experience Team would like to talk to you to learn more about your experience and what happened. If you would like us to look into this further please contact our Patient Experience Team on 0151 556 3093/3091 or by email to PatientExperienceTeam@thewaltoncentre.nhs.uk
