My mother was admitted with elderly frailty problems and was dealt with initially by the Emergency admissions unit.
All staff that dealt with my mam and her family were lovely and reassuring and kept us informed throughout our stay.
We were on the ward for about 3 hours and kept up to date with all test results and planning and were never left for a while without staff interaction even though the unit was operating at full capacity.
The Consultant that assessed my Mam had a fantastic manner with her and the rest of the family and gave us clear information and kept us well informed of the plan of care.
I would like to pass on our thanks to the consultant. They also arranged for Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy to visit my mam while we were in our room.
After a few hours, my mother was moved to ward 9 where Nurse practitioner was in charge of my mothers care.
My mother has Alzheimer's disease and they managed to connect extremely well with my mam and maintained her dignity throughout. She missed the tea round and they went and got her some cake and also ice cream while they tried to arrange for her to be transferred closer to home. They are a credit to the hospital as were all staff we dealt with.
I can't thank the staff enough for how well they treat my mam and dealt so brilliantly with her condition.
We would have loved for my mam to have stayed on ward 9 had it been closer for visiting.
Thank you all.
"Best care we could have asked for"
