"My dad's stay on ward 303"

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Geriatric Assessment

(as a relative),

My Dad was recently in with yourself who did not have a very great stay. The nurses never really showed any attention to him bar one young auxilary nurse who made my dad stays good. They used to come and welcome all of us(family) every day we visited.   However, there was another staff member who we saw shout/moan at other staff in front of patients/relatives, which I don't think should be happening.

Dear Mumof3Abz,

Thank you for detailing your feedback in regards to the care and attitude of the staff in ward 303.

I am disappointed to hear that your Dad didn't have a good stay in this ward and that staff did not attend to your Dad as I would expect. I am also concerned regarding the information that a staff member was shouting / moaning in front of patients and their relatives and again this is not what I expect of our staff.

I am however glad that the care received by the auxillary nurse helped improve your Dad's stay.

We always welcome feedback from our patients and their relatives and I will be sharing your story with the Senior Charge Nurse of the ward in order that he can discuss further with his staff and make improvements to patients stay.

I would be happy to discuss your concerns with you directly if you so wish and can be contacted on 01224 559670 or by e mail fionarobertson@nhs.net

With Kind regards

Fiona Robertson Chief Nurse
