Cannot praise the staff of the neonatal unit at Ayrshire Maternity enough.
Just found this site or I would have written feedback sooner. Both of my daughters were born prematurely after I went into spontaneous labour. My eldest was born in late 2015 - two months early, and only three and a half pounds in weight. My youngest was born in late 2016 - 7 weeks early, and just over four pounds in weight.
Both were in the neonatal unit a month and both journeys were made so much easier by the nursing and medical staff. Particularly during my youngest girl's stay as she required respiratory support. All the staff were so very thoughtful and very genuinely kind. They kept us very well informed and nothing was ever a problem.
I also received a lot of support to breastfeed and express milk for both daughters which was invaluable. Without it I wouldn't have been able to feed them myself for so long - particularly my youngest who was exclusively fed breast milk for four months. Both my daughters are healthy, happy and developing well. My eldest just celebrated her second birthday and my youngest is a year old at the end of this year.
I cannot thank all of the staff in the neonatal unit enough for my wonderful family, they are so precious to me and my husband (even more so because they had such a rough start). The neonatal staff guided us through both rough starts, and they are a real credit to their profession (medical and nursing/midwifery). We will never be able to thank you all enough.
