"Crushed by own landrover, trip to PRI A and E"

About: Royal Preston Hospital / Accident and emergency

I had the luckiest of escapes and was lucky to be dealt withby the MARVELLOUS staff from The NHS at PRI

I got between my Landrover and a brick wall when the handbrake slipped off on a slight hill, neighbours and friends released me and an Ambulance was called. Even though it was an obviously busy day it arrived shortly and the professionalism and caring was immediately obvious, being a former trainded First Aider, I gave the situation and they calmly dealt with the potential scenario, was asked if l required pain relief blood tested heart rate pulse etc, basic questions asked in a positive friendly manner hidden amongst light hearted banter to lower my stress potential. TOTAL PROFESSIONALS.

Arrived at A and E again their professionalism shone through, even though it was packed, l totally understood the neediest were being placed ahead of the lesser injuies, As I was calm and pain was controlled we all chatted for the hand ovver to happen, when i mentioned my right leg had gone numb a further investigation revealed blood, this area had been checked at the scene and was not at that time a problem, Wow another gear engaged again total calm and professionalism, now quickly moved into RESUS. The team here

MASSIVE RESPECT, totally professioalism from all and in XRay too.

Fortunately only crush injuries and a deep gash, ALL staff involved MANY THANKS.

Home on crutches, my TEAM moved on to help others in greater need.

Can only award 5 stars as not any higher to attach, In my opinion 11 out of 10 for the WHOLE of the staff here.

Reading an account such as yours truly makes us very proud to work for this organisation.

What a frightening experience and how fortunate that you had neighbours and friends nearby to come to your assistance.

Our colleagues in the Emergency Department always want to know from us if things don't go quite right, so they can work on making improvements and raising standards, but they enormously appreciate having the chance to celebrate great practice and they will be touched to read your feedback so thank you for sharing it.
