"Great team"

About: University Hospital Wishaw / Day Surgery University Hospital Wishaw / General Surgery (Wards 16-18) University Hospital Wishaw / Pre Operative Assessment

(as a service user),

I recently posted on here about delay in getting Surgery.

The outcome was that I was given an appointment to see the surgeon quickly and we progressed to surgery yesterday. Having criticised the service regarding the delays I feel I now need to praise Wishaw General staff for my fantastic care.

I was admitted to day surgery where I was processed through all paperwork in a caring and thoughtful way. Everyone - the surgeon, anaesthetist, nurses showed interest in me and made me feel like I was their most important patient of the day. A challenge when they are dealing with so many people.

Going into theatre the team were reassuring and kind treating me as an individual. Recovery staff were equally good and attentive although I only really remember the transfer to the ward. The ward staff were amazing. They never stopped, the care and patience shown by all on ward 17 was outstanding.

The ward was constantly being cleaned. They people who came to book lunch were thoughtful and considerate of everyone's needs. The night shift were there to help with pain medication post surgery and could not do enough to make sure we were comfortable.

Well done everyone and thank you for being such a great team
