Arrival in A&E at approx 8pm on Sunday night with my girlfriend who is in pain and bleeding, after a referral from NHS Direct. The reception staff attempted to fob her off at first and i had to interject to ensure she wasn't turned away. Waited 3 hours in that first waiting room on hard plastic chairs while every single other person in the waiting room was seen to, and new people came and were also seen to - it wasn't all that busy. The coffee machine was broken, the coke machine sold out, and nowhere to get water in sight. Chased the reception desk after this 3 hours and as if by magic we were next, and saw the nurse in the single assessment room moments later. Then we were waiting in another waiting room, this one with spots of blood on the floor. We've now been waiting another 2.5 hours or so and it's after 1.40 on the morning. There is tea and coffee available here, and more comfortable chairs. She's in pain and bleeding and the doctor hasn't picked up her file yet (they just asked). This is abysmal and I'm very angry with the hospital. The whole place feels uncaring and the staff are clearly not well managed.
"I pity anyone who has to attend this dreadful..."
