I feel a lot of staff I saw at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Glasgow were acting in an unprofessional manner. On entering the main entrance, I was astonished to see a NHS worker in theatre uniform, this including a face mask that was now dangling from neck and a head wrap, in full ready for op state. This person was chatting away drinking from a bottle of water. I found this unprofessional.
So here I am, wondering what has happened to the doctors of yesteryear as I travel on through to my chosen department. Thinking this is a one off I check in and take my seat. What I see is another NHS worker in semi surgery outfit.. Normal trousers but top half he's ready for action (no mask or head gear this time though).. he was there the whole time I was, this being some 20minutes, doing very little but chatting.
The actual consultation was just what I've come to expect, unless you have a lump or a broken leg ie something obvious then be prepared for finding your own cure.
