"Mother with dementia treated appallingly"

About: Sussex Eye Hospital

I have just returned from A&E at this hospital. I took my Mother in as she was suffering with an eye problem. We were first met by a nurse who did their best I think although they were rather frazzled at times and unsure what to do. My mother has dementia so this was not straight forward but the nurse was not able/ allowed to think out of the box!! They got a Doctor in to help. I would like to name them (but won't) however I feel a great need to express my feelings about the Doctor's horrible, abrupt and condescending behaviour with my Mum.

This person should not be allowed to speak to their patients in this manner/. It was totally unacceptable. My mother left even more confused and so upset with how she was treated.

Unacceptable.

I was so very sorry to learn of your mother's experience and appreciate the events you describe can only have added to an already difficult time for you both.

We take such concerns extremely seriously and I would be grateful if you could contact me on 01273 664511 to discuss this matter further

With best wishes for your mother's recovery
