"After a fall"

About: Princess Alexandra Hospital / Accident and emergency

My daughter in law brought me to A&E after I had fallen whilst out walking. My hip was very swollen, painful and I couldn't weightbear.

I was seen by a doctor immediately and sent tor X-rays. I was given medication for pain while we waited for the results. A&E were very busy with patients waiting on trolleys in the corridors yet all the staff were professional and cheerful.

Fortunately I had not broken my hip and after assessment by the Cars team was able to go home. I would like to thank all members of staff for their care and professionalism whilst I was a patient.

The staff in A&E were exemplary despite the sheer volume of work they were experiencing..

I would like to commend the Dr. for their kindness and professionalism.

Great to read how quickly you were treated and that you managed to avoid serious harm. As you will have noticed, the team in Emergency Department are working in very challenging conditions at the moment to treat an average of 300 patients a day.

In addition to this we are completely re-configuring the environment inside the department, to improve information, communication and patient flows, so please do bear with us during these changes due to be completed at the beginning of 2018. Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment and we hope you don't have to come back, but if you do please provide more feedback by emailing pals@pah.nhs.uk or leave a comment here.
