"EEG exsmination"

About: Sunderland Royal Hospital

Our son is 10 and had ADHD & ASD. Our first appt for an EEG fir him was disastrous even though we rang ahead and forewarned reception of his difficulties and anxieties etc, staff obviously had little knowledge and training of ASD and the whole thing was handled incorrectly resulting in our son having a severe meltdown and panic.

Our second appt for the EEG was handled so much better as we weren't made to wait and the member of staff who did it, knew how to speak to Joshua etc making the whole experience more bearable for him.

I'm very sorry to hear that your son found the first appointment distressing. I can imagine that was upsetting for all of you and something we genuinely never want to happen. You absolutely did the right thing ringing in advance and I am glad that your second appointment went a little more smoothly. We really appreciate your feedback and your guidance as one of the people who knows your son best. Please keep in touch and let us know if there is anything we can do to improve further.
