The person I was supposed to see was running late so they offered me another time but it was not suitable for me so I have lost a day's wages turning up for my appointment

Dear MC-c

Firstly I am sorry to hear that you are disappointed regarding your attendance at the orthotic dept, and that you had lost wages for turning up at your appointment. I am unsure of the exact circumstances of why the clinic was running late and as such it is difficult to comment on the circumstances regarding this.


It is the case however, that clinics can run over for a variety of reasons some of which beyond the control of the clinician. The clinician would always see all patients on their clinic list even if it runs late. As such, I can only assume that you were unable to wait to be seen on the occasion of this clinic running late.

Sometimes clinics can be difficult to predict how long each patient may need for a consultation and treatment. We try to ensure we treat every patient as fully as possible, and as such this can lead to clinic appointments over running on occasion. However, we do this to reduce the need for additional return appointments for patients.

On this occasion the wait for you was longer than expected, and longer than you could wait. I am sorry that this situation has arisen and will feed back to the orthotic dept at Monklands Hospital.
