"Total lack of cooperation. Rookwood A."

About: Chorley & South Ribble Hospital

I was contacted at 1238 today by Rockwood A ward to say my aunt would be discharged.

I asked about timings: they said it would be late afternoon or evening because they were awaiting pharmacy meds for my aunt to go home with.

I explained I was at a funeral this afternoon but would switch my phone back on at 4 pm and was told by the nurse they would contact me to let me know when my aunt could go home.

I asked for the hospital to arrange transport and carers or I would be at her flat

I have received no call from the ward and there are no missed calls on either my mobile or land line.

The ward have not therefore called me as they said they would.

Following calls from my aunts carers I have just contacted the ward to find out what had happened and was told that because I was at a funeral they decided not to send my aunt home. No one told me as her next of kin and the person arranging for care to be in place thereby saving the hospital some work.

Carers were arranged and in fact wasted an hour an a half waiting for my aunt at her flat.

They called back later this evening but still my aunt had not been taken Home. Unbeknown to any of us.

We cannot afford to pay carers extra costs to be there for the convenience of the hospital especially as the hospital changed its plans to discharge my aunt without telling me so that costs could be avoided.

I had arranged to be available for Phone calls after the funeral.

But the ward did not do as the nurse stated and call me. Oh well that's another bed blocked.

Well donwe

Last time my aunt was discharged from Rookwood A they didn't inform district nurse. They visit twice a day to give my aunt insulin injections. She had none for two or three days. Doesn't look like Rookwood is at all satisfactory in arranging discharges. I am unimpressed

Wonder what my aunt won't come home with. Last time she was on Rookwood A her handbag house keys and some clothes went missing. Response from nurses was t shrug at be when I told them. This time despite there supposedly needed to be a member of staff in the six bed bay at all times they didn't notice on two cccausions that my handbag had been taken.

Singularly unimpressive ward
