"Interaction with staff and peers"

About: St Andrew's Healthcare Birmingham / Northfield

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

I have been playing pool and table tennis on the ward with staff and fellow patients. This made me feel part of the ward, and made me feel accepted. I was sad later in the day as I realised I didn't want to be in hospital anymore.

Thank you so much for taking the time to offer your opinion.

It is really important that we offer as many activities as possible, and it is good to get feedback about what you like to do. It is also really helpful for us to understand the emotional impact of feeling engaged in something, and to be mindful of any negative impact this may have, either at the time, or afterwards.

It is important if you feel that you can approach staff to discuss these feelings, so that they can put a plan in place to offer support if you experience this sadness again.
