"A&E visit"

About: George Eliot Hospital - Acute Services / Accident and emergency

I went to A&E for an abcess on my armpit that needed to be drained. Although it was very busy when I got there I didn't have to wait long to see a triage nurse who was very friendly and informative. I then waited a little longer to see a Doctor who was brilliant. They took blood tests then said I needed to wait to see a surgeon they did explain that it might be a while as emergencies had come in which I understood. Whilst waiting members of staff showed me where to get a cup of tea from and always checked I was okay. The doctor kept me updated with when I was going to see the surgeon. Everyone was very caring. Once i saw the surgeon they decided to drain it, they explained everything to me and made a painful procedure go by quick. They were very professional. Couldn't fault anyone at all. Can't thank all the staff enough.

Thank you for sharing your experience. The A&E team work in a very pressured environment and it is always a pleasure to forward to them positive comments such as yours.

Thank you, also , for detailing the reasons for your satisfacation eg being kept updated, as staff will value feedback that confirms that they are meeting patient expectations.

Kind regards

Christine Longstaff on behalf of the George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust
