My wife has been very ill for some months. She was under the care of Whipps Cross Hospital in Leyton E.17 and Barts Hosital London. She was being investigated for cancer of the pancreas and we going back and forth to the hospitals, and early in August awaiting the result of a Scan from Barts. We decided to go down to St.Osyth's where we were to spend a few days with one of our daughter's and a grandson to give Rosemary some relief. She was in considerable pain and while at the holiday cottage she collapsed and we could not move her.. An ambulance was called and brought her to the Colchester General.

This was the best thing that happened to her in the last several months of her life.

My wife and myself and the family have never been so well treated with honesty and respect since this episode of her life began. Nothing was too much trouble for the wonderful staff you have.

Rosemary was in the West Bergholt unit.

At one stage there was a discussion about sending her home to Loughton, Essex, and we were preparing for this to happen but Rosemary took a turn for the worse and from that moment it was plain that she had only a short time to live. The last days of her life were spent in the company of myself and our daughters and nothing could have been nicer than the treatment we all received from the doctors and the nursing staff. They did everything they could to make her passing as comforting as they could.

The speed and efficiency of all the staff in providing the finest palliative care was remarkable.

Thank you all so much it made a very sad occasion bearable. Rosemary passed away on 15th August, happily with the family around her.
