"Triage maternity"

About: Croydon University Hospital / Maternity

I had a horrible experience with the triage maternity service . I attended the unit 4 days ago at around 6 and found other women waiting since 3pm !! By 10pm not a single one had been seen still and we were told that the doctors were all busy and no one was able to tell us when they might come . A midwife was trying all they could .. we finally left as did 5 other women to go to another unit ...

This is shocking for an emergency service and the in charge person should look in to it before a serious incident occurs .

On another note it is impossible to get through to the triage unit and we tried directly and via switch without any luck for 5 days !!

I am so sorry to hear about your negative experience. Waiting times are often reliant on activity and availability of medical review. We are constantly trying to improve the waiting times and also aim to see women within 30 minutes of arrival.

To ensure all women are seen within 30 minutes of arrival, we are currently working with the receptionist team, so they admit patients onto the system on as soon as they arrive.

If you would like to contact me with dates, I am happy to investigate your complaint further.
