"Bone marrow and trephine biopsy"

About: University Hospital Monklands / Day Surgery

(as the patient),

I had a bone marrow aspiration carried out many years and found the whole experience traumatic. I never ever forgot the experience. I attended Ward 16 Day Ward Monklands Hospital this week for the biopsies filled with fear and dread. Specialist Nurse J Robertson greeted me and introduced herself in a lovely calm manner. On entering the room for the procedure I was introduced to Vivienne CSW. I had everything explained to me and given step by step information throughout the treatment by both of these lovely nurses. The procedure wasn't rushed and nicely paced. Yes it was uncomfortable at times but bearable. These two nurses were professional and their entire focus was on me. The experience was much better and my fears non existant. They were kind and empathetic and I even received a lovely telephone call at my home in the evening to make sure everything was okay. Keep up the good work ladies and thank you.

Dear Denmag

Thank you for taking the time to post your experience on Care Opinion. Your story reflects how a traumatic experience stays with us for many years and impacts on our anxiety levels.

I am delighted to read your experience within the Day Unit of Ward 16 has been so positive.

I hope you are recovering well from your procedure and should you have to have any investigations in the future this experience will allay your fears.

I'm sure both nurses will be delighted to receive such kind and positive feedback and it will be my pleasure to share this with them

Kindest regards

Ruth
