"Mixed experience in Ward 3"

About: University Hospital Hairmyres / Acute Medical Receiving Unit (AMRU)

(as a service user),

Hi,

Attended ward three after attending GP.

On arrival I was met by a rather cold reception from staff nurse who advised I should take a seat in the waiting room and someone would come and see me. Over a hour passed until another nurse  came and apologised for delay. (she was unaware I had arrived).

I was attended by the second nurse, a lovely CSW and doctor. I had multiple tests which thankfully were negative.

I would like to thank this nurse, Doctor and CSW for their first class care and attention. Pity the staff nurse showed little compassion in my opinion or advised staff of my arrival.

Good and compassionate communication is paramount within the NHS.

Many thanks to the other staff for making me feel valued.

Dear JintyM,

Thank you for taking the time to post. It is always great to receive feedback both positive and negative as it provides us with an opportunity for learning, to celebrate when we have done things well and make improvements when we have not met expectations.

I am sorry that the nurse who met you in the ward did not make you feel welcome and that you were left unattended, I was pleased to read that other team members did look after you in the manner we would expect.

Please be assured that the issues you have highlighted will be discussed with the ward team.

Thanks you once again for posting.

Best wishes

Margaret
