I feel annoyed and let down by the service at present. Understanding the pinch on public sector jobs being in such a job myself; I feel let down by the NHS in delivery of service.
I have attended Wishaw general hospital back in March 2017 with regards a knee injury I suffered whilst playing sport. At this time the level of care was second to none; seen by a physio at A&E who was great and had concerns regards my ACL. I was told to then come back in a few weeks once the swelling was not as extreme to get a better assessment.. at this time it was pointed out that it was my ACL that had been torn and that I would be referred to a specialist.
I had an appointment at the beginning of May 2017 with a specialist at Hairmyres hospital who assessed and examined my injury and came to the conclusion that surgery would be the best way forward for me. However, the surgeon informed me that he could not carry out the surgery therefore would refer me to a colleague who would carry out the procedure.
I waited 2 months without any correspondence and then eventually received a letter in mid July 2017 giving me an appointment with the specialist at hairmyres hospital for mid August.
A week before my appointment date I then receive a letter from Hairmyres hospital stating due to unforeseen circumstances my appointment is now cancelled. To say I am annoyed is an understatement.
I was off my work for about a month after my injury occurred and from going back I have been restrictive duties for 5 months now due to the nature of my job. I can't perform my role stuck behind a desk. I feel pressure to get back and any updates I give my supervisors are all negative and months apart. I am also aware of the recovery after surgery also which can be months, adding to the length of time I have not been operational. I feel that this is having an adverse affect on my health now unfortunately.
I cannot understand why I would be given an appointment in May 2017 with a specialist who cannot carry out the surgery who then refers me to their colleague and I wait 2 months to hear about an appointment which is 3 months away from seeing the first specialist and now 4 months due to it being cancelled.
I feel frustrated that since May 2017 I am no further forward with my surgery and at the same stage without any progression 3 months later.
