I have been alcohol dependent for several years. In the last year I drank very heavily (about half a litre of vodka) every day. My health became really poor that is when I decided I needed help, and STARS really did a lot for me.

I got hospitalised after the first meeting and that is when my rehabilitation started. One week later when I came out of hospital my outlook on life really changed. It has been over a month not having any alcohol and I feel a lot better. I could I could not have been able to achieve this without the help, support and encouragement from STARS.

Thank you for you honest feedback. It is great to hear that you have found sobriety within your personal recovery journey, it sounds life has been a battle for the past few years but WOW one month sober, you are doing great (don't forget to remind yourself of that!). It is encouraging to hear the comments you made how STARs have helped get to your current position. Keep working on your recovery and attending all that is helping / supporting you to stay clean here at STARs.

Remember alongside our structured services, we have our own recovery network where staff can help you to build resilience to take back all aspects of your life, this could be education, training and employment or building pro social activities to fill your time with alcohol.

Also remember we have AA running from our buildings and also SMART Recovery that some people find so useful for maintaining recovery, check them out if you haven't already.
