"The nurse was a very calming influence"

About: Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust - City Campus / Gastroenterology

(as a relative),

My husband was recently admitted into critical care for four days following extensive gastric surgery. The care he received was amazing, the staff were attentive to his needs, they explained everything to both of us and nothing was too much trouble. Nurse Emma looked after him for two days and never seemed to stop checking everything and was a very calming influence when alarms were sounding.

Thank you for taking the time to post such lovely comments about our staff (and Emma in particular). It sounds like she made a real difference to you and your husband during his stay. I’ve shared your comments with Emma and our critical care team.

You might be wish to know that our annual staff awards, called NUHonours, are currently open for nominations. Considering your feedback, I thought you might be interested in nominating Emma or the ward team (this would fall under the Clinical Support Division Award). There is more information about the awards and how to make a nomination on our website: www.nuh.nhs.uk/nuhonours.

I hope your husband is feeling better following his surgery.

Best wishes,

Rebecca Selwyn.

Critical Care Matron.
